Circular value creation process by bock
Circular economy means taking responsibility—using resources efficiently and conserving them.
The goal is to extend the lifespan of products or their components so that resources remain in circulation for longer. By refurbishing our products, we give them a new life cycle while reducing resource consumption.
In this way, circular economy not only supports responsible resource management but also creates opportunities for resilient business success and a future-proof healthcare system.
To put this approach into practice consistently, we have developed a circular value chain model that firmly embeds sustainability into everyday care.
Ecological benefits
- Reduced and verified Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) according to ISO-14067 for the bed after the full-refurbishment process, as well as for a new bed
- A refurbished bed causes only 1/5 of the CO2 emissions compared to the production of a new bed
- Conservation of raw materials through active circularity, by taking back beds for reprocessing
Economic benefits
- Return of the refurbished bed into circulation with a new warranty
- Take-back commitment for the reconditioning of domiflex® 3 beds
- Simplified calculation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint (Scope 3)
Refurbishment
Regulatorily compliant – technically up to date
As part of our full refurbishment process, the care beds receive a new conformity assessment, a new serial number, and a warranty. This means they are considered, from a regulatory perspective, as newly placed products on the market.
Verified process with clear documentation
Every bed undergoes a defined, comprehensive refurbishment process that involves a complete aesthetic and functional restoration.
This includes, among other things:
- Inspection and repair of steel components
- Repairing paintwork damage - no need for a complete repaint
- Repair of drive units / replacement of motor wear parts
- Inspection of wooden components, particularly wooden panels and side rails
- Side Rail Refurbishment (Re-foiling)
- If necessary, reconditioning or replacement of MDF components
- Functional testing / final inspection according to current quality requirements and checklists
Where required, new parts are used selectively and based on actual need.
The ecological impact is measurable – the verified CO2 footprint of a refurbished bed is 49 kg CO2.
Sustainability with a system
Full refurbishment creates a new product life cycle and contributes to circular value creation. A clear contribution to resource conservation, the circular economy, and sustainable practices.
